3 easy ways to “cozy up” your home for winter

As a lifetime Minnesotan I’ve definitely learned a few things about getting through our long - often 6 months - of winter. And while I’ve learned over time that getting outside and embracing the weather as much as possible helps, I’ve also learned that making things as cozy as possible inside also helps.

I was recently on The Lift sharing all my best winter decor ideas. You can watch the segment here and then keep on scrolling for more tips and a few of my favorite winter items.

So here they are: a few easy ways you can add some coziness to your home this winter

Include some winter greenery and seasonal art

Including winter greenery and artwork feels like such an easy transition from holiday decor. While I pack away more of the traditional holiday decor, I generally leave out some winter greenery and art. Again, our winters last for months up here in Northern Minnesota so it just feels right to have these items stick around for a while longer.

One of the easiest (and cheapest) ways to include that winter art is through printable art. I have rounded up my favorite art prints for winter here.

Bring out the cozy layers

This one is so easy and practical! Adding a couple of throw blankets to a basket is such a simple way to add both coziness and texture to your space. Plus, hello its chilly and this way your blankets will be right within reach. So grab a basket and a couple blankets and you’re set!

I shared a couple of my favorite baskets and blankets in my favorite cozy winter decor post.

Add warm lighting and candles

Another easy way to create a cozier home for the winter is by adding some warm lighting and candles. One way you can do this is by literally swapping out your existing lightbulbs for warmer, softer light (like these).

If you don’t want to make that swap, simply adding candles or some twinkle lights to your space is a perfect way to create some extra warmth. And while I am all about candles and warm lighting year round, there is just something about that glow that feels extra comforting on those cold, dark nights.

I absolutely love these candles by Everlasting Candle Co. These candles are so unique and beautiful! They come in beautiful vases that you fill with oil and then insert the reusable steel candlesticks. They really are the candles that keep giving and giving.

In case you’ve been skimming, here’s the recap…
