7 Things I'm Loving This Winter (and think you might too)

Can I tell you something? These “things I’m loving” blog posts just might be my favorite type of posts to share with you. As much as I love sharing design tips and home decor, there is something so fun about sharing something a little more personal.

In case you missed the last couple of posts: head over and check out 7 Things I’m Loving This Fall and 7 Things I’m Loving This Summer.

While winter admittedly isn’t my favorite season, I’m learning to appreciate so much about it. The slower pace, the cozy stay-at-home vibes, the warm comforting food, and quiet snowy nights.

And I mean, once we get through winter - summer is just around the corner, right?

So here we go…7 things I’m personally loving this winter (in no particular order)

#1 these boots

Okay, so I have wanted these classic boots for years and finally bought them this winter. 90% of the time you will catch me wearing yoga pants and I never felt like I had the right shoes or boots to go with yoga pants in the middle of winter. And now, I finally do! These are perfect every day boots - they even stood the test of a 3 mile walk with Opie yesterday.

#2 cozy nights at home

These long cold nights are seriously made for being cozying up at home - and I’ve definitely been taking full advantage. Snuggling up with my favorite heated blanket. Taking long soaks in the tub with a good book, Epsom salts and a sparkling CBD water. Binging a few good shows. And hanging next to the fireplace with a puzzle. All the Hygge vibes!

I’ve definitely added some cozy decor to my home this season as well and am burning all the candles (like this one). I recently shared 3 Easy Ways to “Cozy Up” Your Home for Winter and The Best Cozy Winter Decor if you need a little inspiration to make things as cozy as possible for these last couple months of winter (at least up here in Northern Minnesota).

#3 these to help with meal prepping

So first of all I’m obsessed with watching Shark Tank - like cider, a pizza, and a couple episodes of Shark Tank - feels like a pretty perfect Friday night kind of obsessed.

I discovered these years ago on Shark Tank and finally got some as a Christmas gift this past year (thanks, mom!). These Souper Cubes have been such a game changer for me when it comes to freezing food. Up until now, I’ve never really been a fan of freezing meals. It’s honestly always been a little impractical (especially for one person) since I’ve always had thaw multiple servings from a container vs. just popping out one of these perfectly portioned servings. Not anymore though, these have made it so easy (and almost fun (?) to pop out just one little cube of food at a time).

I have the one-cup size and will definitely be ordering a few more sizes soon.

#4 chilling out with these gummies

I have been using Equilibria CBD daily for nearly 8 months now and it has been a huge help in me feeling like a slightly more calm, chill version of myself. I use a few products daily; the daily drops, daily gummies, and daily softgels. But let me tell you, these gummies are something I honestly look forward to taking every afternoon - they are that good!

As someone with an incredibly busy (and often anxious) mind I’m so happy to have found a high-quality CBD product that both works and that I can trust. Equilibria is a company created for women, by women, offering premium CBD products. They also offer free 1-on-1 calls with a dosage specialist to help you find a routine personalized for your needs.

#5 staying hydrated + moisturized

The winters up here sure are long, cold, and dry and let me tell you, my skin knows. Staying hydrated and moisturized with non-toxic products is feeling extra important these days. My absolute favorite lip balm to save my lips from these winter months is this one and the marshmallow creme is the actual best (in my opinion).

Another way I combat all that winter dryness is by making my own body moisturizer. I have been making a simple DIY moisturizer for years and it has kept me more hydrated than any store bought lotion has. The best part, it couldn’t be easier to make.

I just take put this sweet almond oil into a bottle, add about 20 drops of high quality lavender essential oil, shake it up and go. Did I mention I definitely save money vs. buying all those bottles of lotion? Easy, non-toxic, and inexpensive - a total win.

#6 winter hikes with Opie

I feel like this (happy) picture of Opie probably speaks enough for itself, but in case it doesn’t.

The weather has (for the most part) been so great this winter, which means Opie and I have gotten out on the trails and in the sunshine a lot more than we typically do in the winter. And man do those days we get outside make such a different in both of our moods.

Forever thankful for hikes with this guy and for all the beautiful wooded trails we are surrounded by up in the northwoods.

#7 reading on my kindle

Well surprise, surprise…once again my kindle has made this list. I just can’t say it enough, if you are still on the fence about switching to a kindle - just do it! I honestly read so much more on my kindle than I ever did with regular books - like 10 times as much! Plus, I use the Libby app through my local library and so pretty much everything I read is at no cost to me. I mean, what?!

I have both the Kindle Fire and the Kindle Paperwhite. I definitely read more on my paperwhite these days but use the fire for more multi-purpose use - like listening to audiobooks, watching Netflix, and reading magazines (since they are in color vs. black and white).

If you’re looking for something new to read (and maybe download to that kindle?) check out The 18 Books I Read in 2022 and The 19 Books I Read in 2021 for some new read inspo.
