How to make an easy DIY fall wall hanging
If you have been around here for a while, you might already know how much I love a good paper bag DIY project. I mean, did you see the paper bag snowflakes I couldn’t stop making last year? It’s probably because my favorite DIYs are usually the easiest and the cheapest. I’m happy to share that this easy fall DIY project meets all the criteria: easy, cheap, and uses paper bags.
How to make an easy DIY wall hanging for fall
This one is perfect to make with the kids or solo with a glass of wine in the other hand. You do you! However you do it, I’m loving the bit of whimsy this super easy wall hanging brings into a space.
Here’s what you’ll need to make this DIY fall wall hanging:
Scissors
A stick (or a wooden dowel)
First, draw leaves and cut the shapes out of your cardstock.
Don’t get too hung up on this step. These shapes do not have to be perfect but you will want to draw a few leaf shapes to use as guides in cutting out the leaf shapes. I started with four different leaf shapes but ended up only using three. Use as many or as few as feels good to you! There really are very few “rules” with this one.
Next, use the leaf cutouts to trace a leaf shape on your paper bag.
Then, use the leaf cutouts as a guide to trace your leaf on the paper bag. Next, cutout the leaves from the paper bag.
Note: each cut will make two leaves (just another reason this one is easy-peasy). Make as many leaves as feels good to you. I made about 20 leaves for stick that was just under 3 feet wide.
Once all the leaves are cut out, tie string onto your stick at varying lengths.
Again, no “rules” here. Make the length of your wall hanging work the space you will be hanging it in.
Then, use your hot glue gun to glue the leaves to the end of each string.
If you want to take it a step further than I did, you could glue a second leaf to the backside so that you can hide the string. I just tried to flip the leaves when hanging so that the strings are on the backside but they do move around a bit. So again, you do you here! Once all the leaves are on the stick, add one more string to use to hang your new wall hanging.
So there you have it, an easy fall wall hanging using just a few items that you might already have on hand!
In case you were skimming, here are the steps to make an easy DIY fall wall hanging:

Cut the leaf shapes out of the paper bags. I made about 20 leaves for my wall hanging.

Use your hot glue gun to attach the leaf to the bottom on the string.
Add a string to the stick to hang on your wall.
