The 9 Books I Read in 2024

If you’ve been here for a while, it’s probably no big surprise that I fell a little short of my reading goal again this year. However, I’m being incredibly easy with myself on missing this goal this year - after all, I opened an actual store (in case you missed it) in 2024 and reading wasn’t necessarily at the top of my list of things to do.

For the past few years I’ve used Goodreads to set a reading goal for the year to come. And while I may not have a good track record for actually making my reading goal; setting a goal and keeping track of what I read really does help me read more than I think I ever would without it.

The other thing that I will swear helps me read so much more is my Kindle.

For years, I was so resistant to this idea, I was sure I would miss turning those pages and feeling a book in my hands. Turns out, I don’t really. And while I still love a good browse through a book shop and picking up the occasional book; I haven’t actually read an actual book from start-to-finish since I got my Kindle.

I have the Kindle Paperwhite which is perfect for all the places I read the most…like the bathtub, in bed with the lights off, or on the beach (with no glare).

The other thing that helps me read more is borrowing digital books through my local library using the Libby app. I mean who doesn’t love free books?

So while this list was a little short this year it was full of good reads! I rated over half of the list 5 stars (which, I honestly don’t just give away willy-nilly) and the other half were all 4 star reads.

With that in mind, it is so hard to pick a favorite book from the year, but my favorite lesser known book was What The Wind Knows by Amy Harmon. I also loved Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt and Weyward by Emily Hart. But again, I basically loved the entire list so thinking now that this little recap of favorites is probably pointless. Just read the whole list, mm-kay?

For what it’s worth, my 2025 reading is off to a good start. We’re only 10 days into the year (as I write this) and I have finished one book and am half way through the second. So, there’s a chance I actually make my goal of 25 this year (fingers crossed). If you want to follow along with what I’m reading and see how I rate each of the books, you can follow along on Goodreads.

So ANYWAY, here they are….the 9 books I read in 2024.
